Maine Legal Hunting Hours: 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 after sunset

Maine Hunting License: Both spring and fall Maine Wild Turkey seasons are open to all hunters who have a valid big or small game license. You will also need a combination Spring/Fall wild turkey license which you can purchase for $20 + agent fee.

What Equipment is allowed?

• Shotgun
  • Yes shotguns are allowed in gauges 10-20 using shot sizes 4-6 or mixed load 4-7.
• Bow and Arrow
  • Yes, bow and arrows are allowed. Must have a valid archery license and turkey permit.
• Crossbow
  • Yes, A crossbow is allowed only in the spring season and you must have a valid big or small game license or archery license and a turkey permit and crossbow permit.
• Dogs
  • Season Based. NO for Spring, Yes for Fall.
• Calling Devices
  • Yes

2023 Wild Turkey Seasons and Bag Limits

Spring Wild Turkey (Bow and Arrow, Crossbow or Shotgun)

• WMD 7, 9-29
  • Season Dates for All Hunters – 5/1/23-6/3/23
    • 2 Bearded Wild Turkeys
• WMD 1-6, 8
  • Season Dates for All Hunters – 5/1/23-6/3/23
    • 1 Bearded Wild Turkey
• Youth Spring Wild Turkey Hunting Day
  • 4/29/23
    • Up to 2 bearded Wild Turkeys from WMD’s that have a 2 Turkey limit.

May take up to 2 turkeys for Spring Season however an individual WMD bag limit cannot be exceeded.
